Texas General Land Office
Halff’s coastal engineering team supports the Texas General Land Office through the Clean Coast Texas program by advancing efforts to reduce the nonpoint source pollution on coastal communities. The work focuses on creek diversion feasibility analysis and the development of green stormwater engineering designs that support implementation of the State of Texas Coastal Nonpoint Source Pollution Multiple Management Measure program.
Project work includes direct coordination with local communities to evaluate stormwater improvement techniques and communicate the benefits and requirements of green stormwater infrastructure. The team guided stakeholders through staffing commitments needed for successful implementation. The project kickoff meeting established communications and introduced key concepts to community stakeholders.
Halff also provided coastal engineering technical support for workshop development, outreach and education programs and formation of project teams. Through ongoing engagement, the team builds relationships that help communities identify opportunities for future green stormwater infrastructure projects and policy improvements. In addition, regulatory programs are reviewed for two communities, with recommendations provided to support alignment with ongoing or planned initiatives.
These projects were made possible through a grant from the Texas General Land Office (GLO) providing Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006 funding made available to the State of Texas and awarded under the Texas Coastal Management Program.
